Back at the end of August I was lucky enough to be nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award twice by the wonderful Reading in the Wings and M&C Crazy Book Blog! Thank you so much for the nominations guys. I’m finally getting round to writing this post and I’m excited to get started. I love this award because you get to learn a little bit about the people behind your favourite blogs. So, let’s get started…
- Thank the blogger who nominated you
- Write a post to show your award
- Give a brief story of how your blog started
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to and let them know you nominated them
How did A Redhead’s Rambling start?
I decided to start my blog whilst I was in my third year of university. I will never quite know what compelled me to start a blog during my busiest and most important year, but I’ve always loved a good challenge. I did a degree in Drama with Creative Writing and have always had a passion for reading, theatre, and much more, so I knew it was time to put myself out there. I wanted to gain lots of writing experience as well as have fun so a blog seemed like the perfect idea. I officially made my blog in November 2016 but I didn’t officially start writing until January 2017. I’m so glad I found the time to wrap my head around WordPress and start blogging because this has been one of my biggest achievements and I love it! A Redhead’s Rambling is now approaching a year and is growing slowly.
My advice for new bloggers:
- Just go for it!
This probably sounds like rubbish advice, but seriously, just go for it. Write whatever you want and get stuck in. I think there can sometimes be a bit of pressure to build a blog like the ‘popular’ or ‘big’ blogs and to write what you think people will want to read. You shouldn’t worry about this at all. All good blogs are interesting because they have a unique flare that only you can bring. Dream big and dare to stand out. Your blog should always be a reflection of you and what you love!
- Everyone is your friend!
Never be afraid to interact with your favourite blogs, even if they have thousands of followers and you think you might be a nuisance. When I first started blogging I gazed from a distance at the bloggers who were friends and wondered how I would ever talk to a mutual follower. Now I realise I was completely ridiculous, because every blogger loves interacting. Comment on a review, agree and disagree with lists and memes, steal a book tag and credit who you stole it from. Blogging is so much more fun when you don’t feel alone!
