Top 5 Tuesday – Books That Need a Sequel or Spin Off

It’s the last Top 5 Tuesday of November and this week the topic is Books That Need a Sequel or Spin Off. As usual, this is a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. I’m pretty excited for this topic as we all have those books we just need to know more about. Whether it’s a sequel to carry on the story you love or a spin off to further explore the characters you want to be friends with and the worlds you want to live in, we just can’t get enough of some of our favourite books. Luckily for me I’m mainly a fantasy reader so I often get hefty series that satisfy me. However, there are just some books, whether stand alones or not, that will never be enough! Here are my Top 5 Books That Need a Sequel or Spin Off.

  1. The Fault in Our Stars – John Green

The_Fault_in_Our_Stars

This is pretty much the only book I desperately need a spin off or sequel. I absolutely adored everything about The Fault in Our Stars and I fell in love with the characters and the tragic story. With this book I want a spin off. Specifically, I need to read An Imperial Affliction. I loved everything about this fictional book and I was so gutted when I found out it wasn’t real at all. I’d do anything to read the same story Hazel fell in love with.

  1. Trapped in Silver – Emily Sowden

trapped in silver

I read this book recently and drawn in to the characters and the original story. Despite being a fantasy book and therefore part of a series with more to come soon, I still want a spin off sequel. I’d love to read more about the mythical creatures in this book and how they came to be who they are. There are so many interesting takes on demons, vampires, and shape shifters that I need to know everything about the wonderful world Emily Sowden created.

  1. The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

hunger games trilogy

The Hunger Games is another interesting world that I just need to know more about. I’d love a prequel to this series, explaining exactly what caused The Hunger Games to become a reality. I also adore Haymitch and Finnick and their dark involvement in the games and the Capitol after sound so horridly interesting. It would be amazing to hear their stories, too.

  1. RoseBlood – A.G. Howard

*spoiler warning – there are plot spoilers below*

roseblood

RoseBlood is a fabulous retelling of Phantom of the Opera involving a forbidden love. Now we all know I’m not always a fan of romance, but there was something about this story that I adored. It sucked me in and I really felt what they did. When the novel ended I wished I could’ve read more about their life after the events in the story. A mini sequel would do just this!

  1. Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling

harry potter series

Okay, so technically there are spin offs to Harry Potter, acting as prequels and sequels. We have all the series and the textbooks featured in them, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Cursed Child. But this still isn’t enough! Everyone seems to want a Marauders spin off series, and that is definitely something I’d love to see. But more than anything, I want to read about everyday life at Hogwarts for all the normal students (although I’m not sure anyone would have a normal time with Harry Potter there!).

Will we ever really get enough of our favourite books? Most of these sequels and spin offs will always be dreams, but I still love to think about what could happen! What books do you need a spin off or sequel for?

Happy reading!

  1. Great post! I definitely agree with you there on all of These! I haven’t finished reading the fault in our stars but what I’ve read so far is really good. Roseblood and trapped in silver sound like I’d love to read them! The other two series are just awesome and I love them! 😍😍💖😁👍

  2. Ooh it would be interesting to hear more about Haymitch or Finnick! Or I just thought of another thing..from the POV of an avox in the capital. I would be over the moon if Suzanne Collins ever decided to write more!

    1. Oh yeah an avox would be such a good idea!! The one spin off I have read (besides some HP related ones) was a Twilight spin off where Meyer wrote about a newly turned vampire in a turf war, so I can totally imagine the isolated tale of an avox in this situation!
