2018 TBR

2018 TBR

It’s that time of year again where I attempt to set a TBR that I know I definitely won’t stick to! I have a huge pile of physical books from my birthday and Christmas that are just itching to be read, and of course I have a lovely mental list growing, too (because you can never have enough reading ideas!). I’m not one to set goals as I’m a terribly slow reader and I pick my next book my mood, but nevertheless I still have a lot of books I would like to try and read in 2018.

2018 TBR:

  1. One of Us Is Lying – Karen M. McManus
  2. The Seafarer’s Kiss – Julie Ember
  3. There’s Someone Inside Your House – Stephanie Perkins
  4. Lost in Darkness (Eldryn Chronicles #2) – Emily Sowden
  5. The Witches of Dark Power (The Witches of the Glass Castle #2) – Gabriella Lepore
  1. Blackheath: Resurrection (Blackheath #2) – Gabriella Lepore
  2. The Book of Barb – Nadia Bailey
  3. Perfect (Flawed #2) – Cecelia Ahern
  4. Salem’s Lot – Stephen King
  5. Undercover Princess – Connie Glynn
  6. Invisible Monsters – Chuck Palahniuk
  1. Hogwart’s Library – J.K. Rowling
  2. Bridget Jones’s Baby – Helen Fielding
  3. The Christmasaurus – Tom Flecther
  4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Suess
  5. Renegades (ARC) – Marissa Meyer
  6. The Toymakers (ARC) – Robert Dinsdale
  1. An Abundance of Katherines – John Green
  2. Heartless – Marissa Meyer
  3. Ready Player One – Earnest Cline
  4. Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo
  5. LOTR: The Two Towers – R.R.Tolkien

So I have a nice list of 22 books on my 2018 TBR, most of which I own physically or have been sent ARCs to review. There are also a few books there that have been floating around on my mental TBR for a while now, so hopefully I may have time for them this year. I’m not setting myself a huge target this year as I have no idea where my life will take me but I am attempting to read a book a month, if not two. I’d love to aim for 15 as a healthy and manageable target, or 20 for a little push! I have such a wonderfully varied list which is so exciting – I can’t wait to sink my teeth into these novels.

Before I sign off, I’d love to ask you all for some recommendations. To continue expanding my reading I’d like to read a standalone graphic novel and a simple classic this year. Can any of you recommend some good reads for these categories?

Happy reading!

  1. One of us is lying is such a good book! I’ve read it last summer on my holiday 🙂

Graphic novel wise Maus is a good one, if you have not read it yet.

  2. One of Us is Lying is a book I want to get to this year too. I’ve heard mixed things about it but I’m still intrigued and I’ve never really read a YA mystery before so it would be a good one to cross off my list. I also need to pick up Heartless. It has been on my shelf for ages and my best friend keeps telling me to read it!

In terms of simple classics, I’d recommend reading middle-grade/YA classics like Pollyanna, Anne of Green Gables, Heidi, The Secret Garden, Little Women, Black Beauty etc. I know I found Little Women to be a great starting block when I first began reading classics.

Graphic-novel wise, the only recommendation I have is Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. It’s such a fun spin on supervillains and it’s fabulous. The artwork is also really good.

Hope you manage to get to most/all of these books during the year! xx

    1. I’ve heard so many good things about One of Us is Lying so I really hope it’s great! I also never read a mystery book and I want to expand my reading even more this year so I though this was a good place to start. Heartless has been on my shelf for ages too, I hope we both get round to it!

Thank you so much for the classic recommendations! I loved The Great Gatsby and The Catcher in the Rye when I read those in school so Anne of Green Gables or Heidi would probably be a good place to start then.

I love superheroes and villains😍 that graphic novel sounds perfect!

Thanks again and have a lovely year!😊
