Top 5 Tuesday – Cover Buys

It’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday! As always, this is a monthly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and this week’s topic is Cover Buys. As avid book readers covers can be really important to us. I’ve talked lots before about the prettiest books I own or cover editions I’m desperate to have so I’ve decided to talk about covers that have made me want to read a book. I’m focusing on new or soon-to-be releases where I have been drawn in by the cover!

  1. Goodbye Perfect – Sara Barnard

goodbye, perfect

I absolutely love the colour scheme and design of this cover so it immediately drew me in. The colours are so bright and I love the minimalist style cover which doesn’t give anything away. I saw this advertised alongside Barnard’s other books and they all fit in, being designed with a similar theme. I think this is such a great cover idea and looks wonderful if you collect them all.

  1. Toymakers – Robert Dinsdale

So this is less of a cover buy and more of a cover request. I’m currently reading an ARC of Toymakers that I was kindly sent by the publisher after requesting the novel. I first saw the cover on Twitter and I fell immediately in love. It’s such a stunning design and so much thought has gone into it! I was so intrigued that I read the blurb and immediately had to have a copy.

  1. The Extinction Trials – S.M. Wilson

The Extinction Trials

I saw The Extinction Trials when lots of people started talking about it and I just knew I’d love to read the book. The whole design of a gaze lurking beneath the trees is such an intriguing image that drew me in. That and the fact the title reminds me of a cross between Jurassic Park and The Maze Runner and I was immediately sold! I hope the novel lives up to my expectations.

  1. A Spoonful of Muder – Robin Stevens

A Spoonful of Murder

Now I don’t really know much about this book but I do remember seeing the cover for the first time. I was absentmindedly scrolling through Twitter (I swear this isn’t all I do!) and the bright blue cover caught my eye. I loved the silhouette images on the cover and of course the title reminded me of one of my favourite musical films, Mary Poppins. This has been added straight onto my TBR.

  1. Colliding Skies – Debbie Zaken

Colliding Skies

I’ve worked with Oftomes, who publish Colliding Skies, before so I’d seen the book talked about quite a lot. I didn’t know much about this book either but I was interested in finding out more thanks to the cover. It’s interesting yet doesn’t give too much away which is a perfectly balanced design. I hope I get the chance to read this book, too.

So I might be a little late to the Top 5 Tuesday party this week after hugely underestimating how tired I would be after starting my new job but I made it and I’m very glad as I loved this topic! I’ve discovered some amazing novels recently, all thanks to some intriguing and eye catching covers. I can’t wait to catch up on everyone’s cover buys.

Happy reading!
