I was tagged in the 3 Quotes, 3 Days Tag by Anatomy of a Book Thief and I was so excited to have been tagged because I’ve really loved seeing everybody’s favourite quotes on my reader. If you’re not familiar with Anatomy of a Book Thief, please go and check out her blog because I love it! I thought long and hard about what quotes to include. Whether they should be all time favourites, fun ones, long ones, or short ones. I settled on thinking about my favourite quote from a different category each day. Today I’m going to talk about my favourite quote from my 2018 reads so far.
‘Children?‘ William said. ‘Children aren’t magic. I’m a child and I’m not magic at all!’
All the elves giggled and Santa smiled knowingly.
‘Oh, but you are! You really truly are. You just don’t know it. You can create impossible worlds in your imagination that don’t really exist. That is magic. Because you can only see the best in people, the best in the world, in life. That is magic. Because you understand the importance of silliness, the importance of fun, of laughing and playing, which grown-ups have forgotten, That is magic. But, most of all, because you believe, without question, in the impossible.’
– The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher
This quote really spoke to me whilst reading this book. I completely adored The Christmasauras anyway (who doesn’t love dinosaurs and Christmas!) but there was something so magical about the book. This quote in particular made me smile and I immediately started thinking about my childhood and my own work with children and young people. I’ve been a theatre kid my whole life and now I volunteer teaching children drama, and I also work in a school, so I’m always surrounded by this magic. It really is a beautiful thing and a child’s imagination and belief never ceases to amaze me.
Stay tuned for day 2 and 3 to see more of my favourite quotes, where I also might be tagging others to join in too. Happy reading!
