FIFA World Cup Book Tag

It’s that time of year when the whole world seems to be stuck in this football mad daydream as the World Cup makes its appearance after four years in hibernation. Reading with Rendz created the FIFA World Cup Book Tag to celebrate the event and as England won their quarter final match yesterday and advanced to the semi final I decided it was time to do this tag. After all, it’s coming home!

The Tag:

Let the Flags Fly

Wave them high and proudly!!! Look at all the fun colours!!!
A book from your world cup competing country/ the country that you want to win!

harry potter series

I have so much choice with my home country being England but I decided to go with some of the most quintessentially English book series I could think of – Harry Potter, of course! Not only is this my favourite book series, it’s also perfectly British and is set in some of the beautiful English countryside.

It’s The Beautiful Game

Football! Soccer! Beautiful! Whatever you call it!
A book with a pretty cover / A book that features soccer

roseblood

For this category, I decided to go with RoseBlood by A.G. Howard. This is one of my favourite reads of 2017 and is one of the most beautiful books I won, inside and out. The cover is the most gorgeous design that gives you hints of the story. The inside of the book is adorned with illustrated chapter pages and the text is red!

Ferocious Fans

Face paint! Big signs! Lots of noise!
Name a fandom you love being a part of!

Okay, I just had to go with Harry Potter again. I can’t think of any fandom I love being a part of more than this! It really is the gift that keeps on giving. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored or grow out of Harry Potter!

Teamwork! Teamwork! Teamwork!

There is no way one person can win the game!
Name your Favourite Bookish Crew / A Book that has Co-Authors!

floored

I haven’t actually read any books by co-authors so instead I’m going to talk about a book by multiple authors that I’m desperate to read. Floored is a YA contemporary novel by seven of Britain’s biggest authors. Each character’s perspective is written by a different author and it sounds absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to read it.

Ref Blows the Whistle

You either love him or you hate him.
Name a book/character that you mixed feelings towards!

the catcher in the rye

An obvious choice but Holden Caulfield constantly changes our opinion of him with every chapter he narrates, and that’s exactly why I love him. The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favourite books and  the confused and unreliable Holden makes for one of the best characters.

GGGGOOOAAAALLLL!!!!

Everyone loses their heads and starts yelling at the top of their lungs!
Name your last 5 star read!

 there's someone inside your house

My last 5 star read is easily There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins. It was completely out of my usual reading habits but I fell head over heels in love with this thrilling book!

The Gold Cup

It’s what we play for.
The Most Coveted/Loved Book On Your Shelf

one of us is lying Once again, the answer to this should be Harry Potter so rather than talk about my most coveted book on my shelf, I’m going to talk about my most coveted book of 2018. I don’t have a huge pool to choose from as my 2018 reading habits have been hit and miss, but my favourite book of 2018 so far has to be One Of Us Is Lying. It totally lived up to the hype and I wish I could wipe my memory to enjoy it all over again!

Thank you so much to Reading with Rendz for creating this entertaining and unique tag. It was perfect to celebrate the World Cup and I really enjoyed taking part! I’m not going to tag anyone but I am going to open it up to any of my wonderful followers who read this and decide to get in the football spirit – I tag all of you! I’m so excited for England’s next match!

Happy reading!
