I absolutely adore Harry Potter, as I’m sure we all know, and I regularly dream about being a wizard. But let’s face it, who doesn’t? Harry Potter has been a huge part of my life for practically the whole duration! So when I saw this tag floating around from Rachael at Beach Bookworm, I knew I had to get in on the magic.
What house are you in?
Hufflepuff! When I first read the books I was naturally drawn to this house, just really feeling like I fitted in. There was something about the Sorting Hat’s song that told me I belonged here. Then Pottermore confirmed it and now I’m super proud to represent the ‘Puffs!
What is your patronus?
According to Pottermore, my patronus is a magpie. I have to say I was bummed when I first saw that as I’d always dreamed of it being so exciting. But when I read that magpies were intelligent creatures who were dominant and curious yet secretive when they wanted to be, I was actually happy.
What is your wand?
How awesome is unicorn hair?! And according to Ollivander, Rowan wood is strong and no dark wizard has ever had a wand made of it, so I guess that’s a bonus.
What would your boggart be?
My boggart would probably be rotted, yellow, discarded teeth. Gross, I know, but my biggest fear is losing all of my teeth! I’d probably be found sobbing in front of my boggart as it transformed into me and all my teeth fell out.
What position would you play in Quidditch?
Honestly, I’m not a very sporty person so I’d probably be a cheerleader, supporting my team from the stands! That being said, I’m super competitive and I’ve got a short temper so I reckon I’d make a great beater.
Would you be pure-blood, half-blood, or muggle-born?
I honestly don’t know what I’d rather be. I love the idea of living as a muggle and being surprised when I find out I’m actually a wizard. But who would believe them? I’d like to be a half-blood I think.
What job would you want to have after graduating Hogwarts?
This is such a hard question! There’s no known job in the Wizarding World which my own dream job would directly translate to and there are so many magical careers I would love. I always wanted to work for the RSPCA as a child so maybe a Magizoologist. I also think working in Muggle Relations would be pretty cool. Or failing those, a Professor would be a great job!
Which of the deathly hallows would you choose?
I’d definitely choose the Cloak of Invisibility. I’m not sure how much use the wand or stone would be to me and think of how much fun you could have being invisible!
The Prisoner of Azkaban! Despite having only read each book once, I remember adoring the Prisoner of Azkaban. I was definitely surprised but I also discovered my favourite character.
Least favourite book?
As I said previously, I’ve only read each book once and even thought I had a stand out favourite, I didn’t really have a least favourite. I loved them all for so many different reasons. I’d definitely need a re-read to answer this questions.
That will always be Order of the Phoenix. I just love everything about the film, especially Dumbledore’s Army! I found this film so exciting and they started to get so serious here, too. This will always be my favourite film and I don’t care about all the people who disagree with me.
Least favourite film?
I’m sorry Half-blood Prince but that’s you. The book is SO interesting and I just feel like the film lost so much of that. The use of Snape’s book was hard to capture on the screen. However there are some really great moments, like Harry high on liquid luck!
Thanks to my reading of Prisoner of Azkaban, my favourite character is Remus Lupin. I just adore him in so many ways. He’s wise and caring, he faces the toughest of times but is still positive, and he’s always there for his friends. I just love Lupin!
Least favourite/most hated character?
One of my least favourite and most hated characters is Fenrir Greyback. That might have something to do with the fact he turned Remus Lupin, but he’s also a terrible person determined to infect as many children as possible. I always thought he was so evil.
Favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
I am almost certain I would love Professor McGonagall if I was a student at Hogwarts. I loved no nonsense, yet secretly sassy and fun, teachers at school. I bet she’d be a great teacher and I’d love to learn from her.
Least favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
I have to say it would be Gilderoy Lockhart. Although I think he’s a great character, he was definitely a terrible teacher. I love learning and I just know I would’ve hated Lockhart’s self inflated ego and inability to do anything.
Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?
I typed out my answers to this question at least 12 times before settling on the answer that I had no unpopular opinions about the books or films that hadn’t already been said before. I do, however, have unpopular opinions about fans who think Slytherin is the bad house and no one wants to be in Hufflepuff because they suck. I don’t want to be elitist but it grinds my gears!
If you could save one character from the finale battle who would you save?
I am so torn between Fred Weasley and Remus Lupin. So many of my favourite characters died and so many wonderful people who deserved more time, but Fred’s death was so cruel. But then I’d leave poor Teddy Lupin without any parents. Help.
I had so much fun doing this magical tag! I’d love to see all your Potter opinions so tag me if you’re inspired to do this post because of me.
