Top 5 Tuesday – Books I’d Save From A Fire

It’s been so long since I participated in Top 5 Tuesday but I’m so glad I’m finally back! As usual, it’s hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. I picked a great week to return because this week the topic is Books I’d Save From A Fire. Fortunately I’ve never had to think about this before, but T5T has made me think about how small my arms are and how few books I’d be able to carry! I own so many physical books so I had a huge list to pick from, but I found it surprisingly easy to narrow it down to these five.

Harry Potter Series – J.K. Rowling

This would obviously be the first set I would grab frantically, and if I only had the chance to save one this would be it! My Harry Potter set is seriously everything to me. It sits pride of place on its own shelf on my wall, surrounded by some of my favourite HP merch. It’s also in immaculate condition because I received these years after I read my mum’s original copy, so there’s no way these would be left behind.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky

Perks is my favourite book I’ve ever read so there’s no way I’d be leaving it behind to burn. It isn’t the prettiest book aesthetically but it has a big spot in my heart. I couldn’t imagine ever being without a copy of this book nearby. It makes me feel safe.

The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien

Not only do I adore The Hobbit as a whole, but this specific copy is my favourite. This is one of my favourite fantasy books so I’d love to have it with me. I was gifted this gorgeous second copy because I loved the book so much but was stuck with a film cover (which I am really not a fan of). This cover design is my all-time favourite so I was so excited to receive it. It would definitely be coming with me in the event of a fire!

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy – J.R.R. Tolkien

It wouldn’t feel right picking up The Hobbit and leaving behind my LOTR set, too. This is a really beautiful matching set in its own box. It looks pretty on any bookshelf so I’d have to grab it. I’d certainly feel bad leaving it behind.

The Christmasaurus – Tom Fletcher

The first four books on my list came to me quite easily but I had to think really hard about this one. Then I suddenly remembered that I owned this wonderful book. It is still one of my favourite reads of the year so far and it makes me smile just thinking about it. The Christmasaurus also has such beautiful illustrations so I’d love to keep hold of it.

I’m pretty happy with my five books I’d save from a fire (even if I did cheat and include a couple of series!). Realistically I’d be frantically juggling every book I own and panicking as they fall victim to the flames, because who could really leave behind a book! I’ve loved joining in with Top 5 Tuesday again so hopefully I’ll be back for a while.
